In 1938 in New York City attorney Chester Carlson made the first photocopy. The first automated copier, the Xerox 914, was born in 1959. Since the early Sixties, Bruno Munari used a Xerox machine to make original works of art, moving images while they were being copied, forcing therefore the machine to create the exact opposite of what it was invented for. With this in mind, i xeroxed my latest illustration for The New York Times about Fast Food and impatience. Panino Velocissssimo!

Grazia Nidasio is one of my favorite italian illustrators. Born in 1931, she began working for Il Corriere dei Piccoli in the Fifties creating whimsical characters like Dottor Oss, Valentina Mela Verde and Violante Beat, a young girl living in Italy in the psychedelic Sixties. Here’s a story published in 1967 about Violante, her friend Melissa and the band Amleto and the Demented.
